Sailing

The club is open for informal on water activities all year round and there are plenty of opportunities to get into sailing and become a regular sailor at Northampton Sailing Club. The water is open to all members from dawn to dusk every day of the year.

Club racing

Racing takes place primarily on Sundays and then on Thursday evenings during the summer. This is run by the members for the members, with safety boat cover scheduled for these sessions. Check the calendar for dates, times and race formats.

Racing is run by volunteers and there is an information pack for race officers on the committee boat. You can also access the information from the links below.

Kit Hire

Any club members with RYA level 2 (adults) or stage 3 (juniors), can hire club equipment to get you on the water, trying other boats and sports. Kit hire is free during club training sessions including Wednesday evening sailing & windsurfing coaching, and Friday evening for paddle sports.

Buoyancy aides, wetsuits, helmets and spray tops are all free to borrow. There is nothing worse than putting on a cold, damp wetsuit so we just ask that you rinse them after use and hang them back up to dry!  Click here to book boat, board or SUP hire.

Free coaching

During the warmer months of the year (roughly April – September), we have evening coaching sessions, both for children and adults:

  •  Pitsford Pirates is the sailing and windsurfing club for 8-16 year olds, taking complete beginners through to those with advanced skills. The aim is to have fun, gain water  confidence, improve sailing skills and build friendships. This takes place on Wednesday evenings.
  • Adult coaching gives you the opportunity to update your sailing skills or get some racing tips and race strategy in an informal setting. It takes place on a Tuesday evening 6.30 – 8.00pm.  To book your place click here

Training courses

Whether you are completely new to the sport or just haven’t done it in a while, our RYA courses will give you the training needed to get your sailing skills up to speed and your confidence back. Have a look at our training section to find out more.

WhatsApp Groups

The club has numerous WhatsApp groups from the Sailing Support group to help new sailors at the club, to Solo and Phantom fleet groups too. If you would like to be added to these please let Sarah know here.
